The Most
powerful and Efficient.
Onyx
panels are designed with two important points in mind: High efficiency
and optimal voltage. As shown in the following chart, Onyx has higher
power rating and efficiency than any of
its competing panels. To reach this goal, Onyx design team had to make
several important decisions. Of these, the key decision was to use 156mm
monocrystalline cells on larger output panels (250W and above) instead
of 125mm. Naturally, 156mm monocrystallne cells are much more expensive
than 125mm due to its structural complexity and tedious developmental
procedures. However, by using the larger 156mm cells, less number of
cells is used. Thus, Voc and Vmp of Onyx are much lower than panels that
use more number of cells. Lower Voc and Vmp is the secret that allows
Onyx panels to be compatible with so many inverters while achieving its
trademark high voltage characteristics. Despite high manufacturing
costs, Onyx team could not overlook offering these unbeatable benefits
to our customers.
Module
efficiency is the most common topic of discussion when it comes to
measurement of quality of panels. This is false. The only way to use
efficiency as a measure of quality is to regard the panel’s surface area
as well. Anyone can make high efficient panels if size wasn’t a problem.
Thus, the true proper measure of quality is how much power a module can
produce per square foot, and this depends purely on the quality of
wafers and cells. Because Onyx is built with unprecedented wafers and
cells, in addition to the high power rating advantages, Onyx panel is
relatively smaller in size than its competing solar modules. As shown on
the following graph, Onyx produces 13.55Watt/ ft2 making it
the most efficient solar panel in its class.
Obviously, the high efficiency of Onyx can help end user produce more
power with limited surface available.
